Part of a food-themed poster series for Roux x Portland in Color
This massive 3-story mural is my largest project to date. I wanted to create a vivid, larger-than-life scene of diverse nature-curious Portlanders with lots of unlikely friends hidden in plain sight.
Commissioned by CareOregon to commemorate their 30th anniversary of helping Oregonians access free health care. Painted in the Spring of 2024 at the Midtown Beer Garden.
Limited edition 7-color, 16x20” prints designed by me + screenprinted by hand by Jason Le for Hey Love, 2020.
OMPA enamel pin design
My contribution to the Bitch Magazine 20th anniversary show "No Feminism No Future."
Collaboration with Leafly, 2021. I created a design inspired by our state motto “Alis volat propriis”, which translates to “she flies with her own wings,” centering femmes + cannabis. The design was used on a promotional rolling tray distributed by Leafly.
My contribution to a collaborative exquisite scroll project raising funds for BIPOC equity scholarship at PNCA. Gouache on paper.
Artist Statement:
“not today, not ever.
dear karen/kevin: i am not ur model minority. i am not ur confidant. i am not ur accomplice. i am not “one of the good ones.” i am not subordinate. i am not compliant. i am not complacent. proximity to whiteness is not a gift. proximity to whiteness is a lie. the myth of model minority is a function of white supremacy. i don’t subscribe to ur bullshit. #modelminoritymyth”
Social justice image made in solidarity with Black Lives Matter, calling attention to the history of Asian American activism during the Civil Rights movement.
Personal projects exploring identity.
Instagram triptych for The Hustle, legendary Portland disco party, produced by Boogie Buffet.
My BFA thesis project at Pacific Northwest College of Art, ALL THINGS HUSTLE, is an inspiration planner for creatives complete with twelve motivational mantra illustrations for sharing or hanging as well as pages for list-making, monthly-planning, and blank & lined note-taking. Six editions were produced and hand stitch-bound.
A mural depicting nonbinary, genderqueer representations of the Chinese Zodiac for Ichiza Kitchen in Portland, Oregon. Digital design, acrylic paint on 60”x227” wall, 2020.
Commissioned by Color Outside The Lines, 2021. Part of a mural series across Portland called “Belonging,” I explored what belonging meant to me. This mural is a celebration of my femme-identifying AAPI community, an affirmation of belonging, & a dedication to the six Asian women who were murdered in the Atlanta spa shootings on March 16, 2021.
In a society that fetishizes, marginalizes, & silences AAPI femmes, this mural urges passersby to stand with us. This mural demands AAPI femmes be seen, heard, valued, respected, & protected.
